I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to itch for warmer weather and sunny days. In keeping with that vein, I thought I’d give you a sneak peak into my spring capsule and a few of the key items I’m really excited to wear and style. Some of the items I haven’t got round to obtaining yet, but I’ve mentioned them here anyway.
Linen shirt // The only plain shirts I’ve ever owned have been school uniform. I’m excited to own my first linen shirt and use it as more than something to wear with a tie – open over a tee or tank, alone with casually rolled sleeves, charmingly dishevelled under an open cardigan or jumper, cutely paired with chino shorts. And because this is linen, the shirt should last me a good many years too.
Cashmere tee // I’m excited to get my arms out of these long sleeves, as cosy as they are, but I don’t want to suffer any of the residue cold from winter, so this tee is the perfect combination of covering spring time anticipation and my want to keep warm. The camel colour is also super easy to pair with any shade of denim and actually, most other colours too.
Muscle tank (not pictured) // I used to be a big user of the strappy tank, owning a gajillion in colours as varied as my hair colour is presently. My main complaint with that cut though, was that the straps always slipped because I have very shallow and downward sloping shoulders. No more! I’m excited to try my first muscle tank. The relaxed style will pair really well with slightly more structured pieces and strike a really good balance – semi casual but still neat and presentable.
Cropped jumper // This jumper feels fabulous against the skin, but because of its cropped design and dropped shoulders, I always found it difficult to style without either feeling cold at my lower back, or looking a bit sloppy in general. Pairing this with high waisted jeans should fix the former problem, and perhaps wearing with bottoms that have a lot of structure and clean lines will help me look a bit more put together overall.
Chino shorts // A comfortable pair of all rounder shorts is a must. While I love denim and the edgy, sometimes boho look that cutoffs give, you can’t beat a good pair of plain, cotton chinos that are unassuming, practical, and look good with everything – jumpers, tees, tanks, cardigans, sneakers, sandals. I’ve got a camel pair pictured here, but I intend on having a navy pair in this capsule. Navy is my version of black, and pairs well with lots of colours without it looking too visually busy.
Are you looking forward to wearing something in particular this spring? Tell me about it in the comments!
